“Acclimation” And What It Really Means

Answer:

For the most part, many installers will recommend to acclimate your new hardwood by letting it sit in the room it is to be installed in. Acclimation is not about how long it sat on the jobsite before you installed it, it’s about the readings on your moister meter. Whenever your hardwood arrives to its final destination, it is important to take your moister meter to the wood itself and record that measurement and the subfloor  results down. On a strip floor the percentage should be within four percent and on a plank it should be no more of a two percent variation between the two. Keeping to these guidelines & the NWFA’s will help ensure a successful installation and maintain the boards shape for years to come.
